WANA (Dec 05) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei,  has urged the new NATO Secretary-General to address the growing insecurity resulting from what he described as “provocative and hegemonic policies” of certain NATO member states.

Esmail Baghaei, speaking through his personal account on the social media platform X this morning, remarked: “The new secretary general of NATO, who claims to have a way with U.S. president-elect, insists weirdly in setting the agenda for the upcoming U.S. administration.”

He accused the NATO chief of promoting further global polarization and encouraging confrontation. Mr. Secretary General’s prescription is nothing but incitement to further militancy by framing a polarized picture of world politics. This is far from benign & responsible,” Baghaei added.

Referring to NATO’s broader role, the spokesperson reiterated: He should feel accountable to answer for the growing insecurity that has plagued the world, including Europe, due to egocentric & totalitarianist policies of certain NATO members.”

Baghaei’s remarks followed a recent interview by NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte with the Financial Times, where he warned that if U.S. President-elect Donald Trump forced Ukraine into signing a peace deal favoring Russia, Washington would face serious threats from China, Iran, and North Korea.
