WANA (Dec 08) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that “necessary measures have been taken to ensure the safety and security of the staff of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, and both the ambassador and the staff are in full health.”

 

On Sunday, Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, addressed journalists’ inquiries about the status of the embassy staff in Damascus, stating: “Necessary measures have been taken to ensure the safety and security of the staff of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, and both the ambassador and the staff are in full health.”

 

Responding to a question about reports of an attack on the Iranian Embassy building in Damascus, Baghaei condemned the act and emphasized that “protecting the safety and security of diplomatic and consular premises is a fundamental principle of international law and relations, and adherence to it is mandatory under all circumstances.”

 

He further stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been in contact with influential parties involved in Syrian developments, warning against such incidents and calling for measures to prevent their recurrence.
