WANA (Oct 30) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the world must prevent the Israeli regime from completely destroying the 75-year-old UNRWA and depriving Palestinian refugees of their most basic human rights. He emphasized that the occupying regime aims to stop this agency’s operations entirely in Palestine.

Ismail Baqaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote on his social media page on X: “After the killing of over 230 staff members of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), the occupying regime is now pursuing a complete halt to the agency’s activities in Palestine.”

He described this action as heinous and cruel, with severe consequences, as UNRWA is an “irreplaceable” and essential institution without which the humanitarian and relief system in Gaza would collapse.

The spokesperson also stated that this issue can only be seen as part of a broader plan, which the UN Special Rapporteur on Palestinian Affairs has described as a genocidal intent, reflecting a decades-long policy of territorial expansion and ethnic cleansing aimed at erasing Palestinians from their homeland.

Baqaei added that the world must act decisively to prevent the complete destruction of this 75-year-old institution by the Israeli regime and the denial of basic human rights to Palestinian refugees.
