WANA (July 04) – Tehran has welcomed the release of Iranian musician and filmmaker Bashir Bi-azar from a French prison.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry and the Human Rights Council have congratulated Bi-azar’s freedom and return home.

They stressed that supporting Iranian citizens abroad is a priority for the government. Bi-Azar, who was accused of “anti-Zionist” activity, spent almost a month in jail.

The French Police had detained him for Pro-Palestinian Social media activism. According to his lawyer, there was no legal justification for the detention.

Iranian officials had also rejected the charges as baseless and driven by the French government’s political agenda against the Islamic Republic.

Bi-azar is an acclaimed artist who used to work for Iran’s national broadcaster, IRIB.
