Building Alliances: Iran’s President Reflects on BRICS Achievements
WANA (Oct 25 ) – Upon returning from his trip to Russia, Iran’s President elaborated on the results and achievements of the visit. Masoud Pezeshkian, while expressing satisfaction with the meetings and discussions held with the leaders of BRICS member countries, stated, “This was the first BRICS summit where we participated as a main member, and what transpired during the event was a meaningful achievement.”
The President of Iran further outlined that addressing security, economic, and social issues formed the core of the BRICS summit in Russia. He added, “In the economic arena, BRICS aims to counter U.S. unilateralism, the dominance of the dollar in the global economy, and unjust sanctions imposed on various nations.”
Pezeshkian explained that BRICS originally had only five members at its founding, but now, beyond the increase in membership, more than 30 countries are seeking to join, with heads of six international organizations, including the U.N. Secretary-General, in attendance. He highlighted, “One significant topic discussed at this summit was the establishment of an independent financial fund, given the dominance of U.S. policies over the IMF, to facilitate mutual assistance and mitigate American sanctions.”

Masoud Pezeshkian also mentioned his meetings with the presidents of China, Russia, South Africa, and the Prime Minister of India, stating, “The BRICS final statement was notable, particularly in its condemnation of Israel’s actions in Gaza and Lebanon and its emphasis on strengthening economic, cultural, scientific, and security ties among member countries.”
The President noted that the high-level BRICS summit sought to solidify its global position by fostering connections among member countries to counter unilateralism. He continued, “This summit provided an exceptional opportunity for us to engage in constructive bilateral dialogues with other world leaders, equating to the benefits of ten separate international trips.”
Pezeshkian emphasized the warm reception of Iran’s stances by BRICS leaders, recounting that some, such as Egypt, remarked that European diplomats portray Iran in a way that contrasts with their own experience and suggested that Iran should enhance regional relationships. Meanwhile, the Emirati leader voiced strong interest in visiting Iran, advocating for resolving issues independently and preventing external interference.
Highlighting BRICS leaders’ enthusiasm for expanding relations with Iran, the President remarked, “This trip was truly a golden opportunity to deepen our alignment with BRICS countries. We also agreed to accelerate and operationalize agreements with some member states.”
In conclusion, Pezeshkian asserted, “If we can implement the objectives and agreements reached in this summit, we will gradually neutralize the schemes orchestrated by the U.S. and its allies.”
