Canada Imposes New Sanctions on Iran
WANA (Mar 08 ) – Canada’s Foreign Minister, Mélanie Joly, announced new sanctions against Iran, accusing Tehran of severe human rights violations and destabilizing activities in the Middle East and beyond.
In the latest move against Iran, Joly stated early Saturday that Canada is targeting three individuals and four entities allegedly linked to networks supplying advanced technology.
These networks, according to Canadian claims, support the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in producing and selling weapons, including those supplied to Russia for use in the Ukraine war.
Joly also criticized Iran’s regional role, accusing Tehran of supporting terrorist groups and threatening regional and international security.
A statement published on the Canadian government’s website emphasized that these sanctions align with similar measures imposed by Canada’s allies, including the United States.
To date, Canada has sanctioned 208 Iranian individuals and 254 entities.
