WANA (August 11) – In a statement, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that during a phone call with Ali Bagheri Kani, the acting Foreign Minister of Iran, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Political Bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), on July 31.

He stated that this attack violated Iran’s sovereignty and threatened regional stability.

Iran and Palestine hold the Zionist regime responsible for the terrorist attack that led to Ismail Haniyeh’s martyrdom.

Although the Zionist regime has not claimed responsibility for the attack, concerns have heightened that the war between Hamas and the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip could escalate into a broader conflict in the Middle East.

Iran has vowed “revenge” against the Zionist regime for the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh. During his phone conversation with Ali Bagheri Kani, Wang Yi emphasized that the killing of Ismail Haniyeh has directly impacted ceasefire negotiations and undermined regional stability.

Wang Yi further stated that China supports Iran in defending its sovereignty, security, and national dignity according to the law and in its efforts to maintain regional peace and stability. He also expressed China’s readiness to maintain close communication with Iran.
