WANA (Mar 16) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, strongly condemned the U.S. and U.K. airstrikes on various regions in Yemen, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of dozens of people, including innocent women and children.

He emphasized that the U.S.-U.K. military aggression constitutes a blatant violation of the principles of the UN Charter and fundamental rules of international law regarding the prohibition of the use of force, as well as respect for territorial integrity and national sovereignty. He also underscored the responsibility of the United Nations and the Security Council to address such violations and threats to international peace and security.

The spokesperson described the joint U.S.-U.K. military assault against the resilient people of Yemen as part of their ongoing support for the genocide of Palestinians and the suppression of any form of solidarity and legitimate advocacy for Palestinian rights. He stressed that the root cause of insecurity in West Asia is the continued killing and occupation in Palestine, sustained with the full backing of the U.S., the U.K., and other Western countries—posing an unprecedented threat to regional and global peace and security.

Baghaei also highlighted the legal and moral responsibility of all governments and international and Islamic organizations to confront the ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing in occupied Palestine—practices that include imposing starvation and famine on the oppressed Palestinian people, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. He called for urgent action in this regard.
