WANA (Apr 25) – The Dutch ambassador to Iran, Emile Frederick de Bondt, was summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry in protest against what Tehran called baseless accusations by the Dutch National Security and Intelligence Service (AIVD) against the Islamic Republic.

Following allegations made in the AIVD’s annual report, Mr. de Bondt was summoned by Alireza Yousefi, Director General for Western Europe at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who conveyed Iran’s strong objection to the claims.

During the meeting, Yousefi rejected the allegations raised in the Dutch intelligence report, dismissing any Iranian involvement in alleged assassination plots in the Netherlands as unfounded and lacking evidence.

He also criticized the Dutch Ministry of Interior’s spokesperson for repeating the claims and the subsequent summoning of Iran’s ambassador to The Hague based merely on “suspicion or speculation.” Yousefi stated: “It is regrettable that the Dutch Foreign Ministry, relying solely on speculation and suspicions fueled by its own intelligence agencies and the Israeli regime, would level such baseless accusations against Iran and summon the Iranian ambassador over this absurd claim.”

He described the Dutch Foreign Ministry’s move as a clear and unacceptable attempt to deflect attention, adding that a country which provides shelter to known criminals and terrorists lacks the moral standing to accuse others.

Yousefi called on the Dutch Foreign Ministry to adopt a professional and respectful approach in its bilateral relations with Iran, refrain from repeating baseless accusations, and end its all-out support for Israel—a regime he described as genocidal. He urged the Netherlands to play a constructive role in developments across West Asia.

Ambassador de Bondt said he would convey Iran’s position to his government.
