WANA (Sep 09) – After 11 days of intense competition, the Paris 2024 Paralympics have concluded, with Iran’s delegation delivering a stellar performance that solidified their position on the global stage.

In the final two days of the Games, Iranian athletes continued to excel, clinching significant medals and showcasing their prowess. On the tenth day, Elham Salehi achieved a bronze medal in the F54 javelin throw with a throw of 16.24 meters.

However, the day also saw a controversial moment: Sadegh Beit Sayah initially won a gold medal but had it revoked due to disqualification. According to reports, the Paralympics organizers cited the use of Imam Hussein’s mourning flag, rather than technical issues, as the reason for the disqualification.

Despite this, the Director General of Youth and Sports for Khuzestan Province announced that Sadegh Beit Sayah would be awarded a gold medal bonus in recognition of his efforts.

On the eleventh day, Ali Akbar Gharibshahi lifted a weight of 252 kilograms in the 107 kg weightlifting category, securing a gold medal and setting a new Paralympic record.

Ahmed Aminzadeh also excelled in the +107 kg category, lifting 258 kilograms in his second attempt to win gold. This medal marked Iran’s eighth and final gold in this edition of the Games.

By the end of the Paris 2024 Paralympics, the Iranian team concluded their campaign with a total of 25 medals: 8 gold, 10 silver, and 7 bronze, placing them 14th in the medal table.
