Engineering and Security Operations on Iran’s Eastern Border
WANA (Dec 02) – Extensive efforts are underway at the Iran-Afghanistan zero border point to bolster border security. This project, designed to fortify the border and counteract terrorist threats from Iran’s side, involves the construction of robust concrete walls and the installation of advanced electronic surveillance systems along the border zone.
According to Iranian Army Ground Forces commanders, 65 kilometers of the border wall have been completed so far, with groundwork for another 130 kilometers finished.
Six workshops producing concrete walls are operational across different sections of this border, and in some areas, mountains have even been excavated to create the border wall.
Amir Na’mati, Deputy Commander of Iran’s Army Ground Forces, announced that significant progress will be made on the project by the end of the year. Systems such as surveillance sensors, reconnaissance drones, and thermal cameras are set to be deployed. Additionally, mobile assault battalions are tasked with maintaining constant border control.
Iran Seals 300 km of Eastern Border with 4-Meter Walls
WANA (July 23) – The commander of the 444th Engineering Group of the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces announced the sealing of 300 kilometers of Iran’s eastern border with 4-meter-high walls. Security Drills and Counter-Terrorism Measures
Simultaneously with engineering operations, Iranian Army rapid reaction forces are conducting complex security drills. These exercises include identifying terrorist gathering spots using advanced Mohajer-6 drones, destroying their command vehicles with highly explosive precision bombs (Qaem), and shelling enemy positions with artillery.
In these operations, terrorist forces deep within neighboring countries’ territories are targeted. Detailed planning by commanders and close coordination with neighboring governments, including Afghanistan, prevent these threats from reaching Iran’s borders.
Amir Cheshk, Deputy Operations Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Forces, emphasized:
“Based on international agreements, any threatening gatherings that endanger the security of the Islamic Republic will be met with a decisive response from the Army Ground Forces and Iran’s armed forces.”
Clearing Operations and Elimination of Threats
Supported by Army Aviation helicopters, special forces are dispatched to terrorist gathering locations and carry out high-precision clearance operations. After neutralizing equipment and eliminating remaining enemy elements, these forces are swiftly relocated to safe areas.
This exercise is part of the Iranian Army’s ongoing drills to counter terrorist threats along the eastern and northeastern borders of Iran, showcasing the Islamic Republic’s high readiness to ensure national security.
Efforts on Iran’s eastern border combine advanced engineering activities with precise military drills aimed at strengthening security and addressing modern threats. This project exemplifies military and engineering collaboration to ensure stability in one of Iran’s most geopolitically sensitive regions.
