Europe Should Help End Gaza Genocide, Not Support Israel
WANA (August 12) – This afternoon, Monday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in response to a phone call from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, emphasized the need to remove obstacles to enhancing relations between Iran and European countries.
He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran seeks to develop relations with all European nations, including Germany, based on friendship, mutual trust, and respect.
The Iranian President highlighted that maintaining and promoting regional and global peace, stability, and security are key policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He added, “At a time when the Zionist regime is violating all international treaties and laws by continuing its crimes and genocide in Gaza and engaging in terrorist actions in other countries, thereby seriously challenging regional security and global peace, the people of the world expect European countries, especially Germany, to play an effective role in ending the Zionists’ genocide in Gaza instead of supporting this regime.”
Pezeshkian stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always committed itself to adhering to international laws and regulations.
He stated that while Iran welcomes the development of interactions with all countries and emphasizes solving problems through negotiation, it will never succumb to pressure, sanctions, bullying, or aggression. Instead, Iran considers it its right to respond to aggressors in accordance with international norms.
In the phone conversation, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz congratulated Pezeshkian on his election as President of Iran and praised his valuable stances. Scholz emphasized his country’s readiness and interest in enhancing relations with Iran in all areas.
The German Chancellor also noted that establishing peace and security in the region is a priority for Germany’s approach to West Asia and the world. He stressed the need for an immediate cessation of war and violence in Gaza and the establishment of a ceasefire in the region.
