WANA (August 02) – Fars News Agency, associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran, has dismissed the New York Times’ report on the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh as a blatant and deliberate fabrication aimed at saving Israel from severe retaliation.

The IRGC-affiliated news agency claims in its reports today that in the early hours of Wednesday, the residence of Ismail Haniyeh was hit by a projectile, causing damage to parts of the roof and windows of his fourth-floor apartment in the Zafaraniyeh area. Haniyeh and one of his guards were reportedly martyred in the attack.

This media outlet challenges the claims made by the American media in the following manner:

Fars News Agency’s Rebuttal to the New York Times’ Claim

According to Fars: After the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the New York Times cited seven sources, alleging that Haniyeh was killed by a bomb placed in his room two months earlier.

The report claimed that Haniyeh had stayed in this room during previous trips to Tehran. Once the assassins confirmed Haniyeh’s presence in the room, they remotely detonated the bomb, killing Haniyeh and his guard instantly.

Following the New York Times, other pro-Israel media outlets, including Axios and Bloomberg, propagated these claims, perpetuating the narrative initiated by the New York Times in the media space.

The global Zionist media axis is pushing this fabrication about the method of martyr Haniyeh’s assassination to mitigate the consequences of this action and absolve the Israeli regime from the crime of violating territorial sovereignty and aggression against Iran. This media operation is designed and executed to evade responsibility for the assassination.

The method of fabrication by these media, citing informed sources, has been previously employed by anti-revolutionary groups in Iran. The New York Times has repeatedly published news about the illness and critical condition of Iran’s Supreme Leader during various periods, including the “Woman, Life, Freedom” unrest or prior to parliamentary elections.

Previously, anti-revolutionary media presented these fabrications through their main Persian-language outlets. The anti-revolutionary media think tank (anti-Iran) has, in their view, assigned this project to more reputable media by sidelining Persian-language outlets. This excessive use of this style of fabrication by the New York Times has also discredited it.

These fabrications are being made while expert reviews on the method of Ismail Haniyeh’s martyrdom indicate it was caused by a projectile strike, undeniably implicating the Israeli regime.
