WANA (August 05) – For the first time in history, an Iranian woman will officiate taekwondo matches at the 2024 Olympic Games. The Olympic presence for Iran isn’t limited to its 40 athletes competing across various events. The Iranian delegation in Paris includes male and female athletes across 13 different sports and several referees.

 

Iran will have several referees in various disciplines at the Paris Olympics, including tennis, archery, shooting, wrestling, and equestrian events. However, a unique milestone is set to be achieved in taekwondo.

 

Iran, known as a powerhouse in taekwondo, will have an Iranian female referee, Masoumeh Bagheri, among the international officials. Notably, she will also officiate men’s matches.
