WANA (Oct 15) – The funeral ceremony of General Abbas Niloofroshan was held in Tehran with the presence of senior military and governmental figures.

 

The ceremony was attended by Major General Hossein Salami, Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC; General Esmail Qaani, Commander of the Quds Force; General Pakpour, Commander of the IRGC Ground Forces; General Ali Fadavi; General Hossein Nejat; General Mohammad Ali Jafari; Mohsen Rafighdoost; the Yemeni Ambassador to Tehran; and a number of political and military figures.

Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, and Hojatoleslam Mohseni Ejei, Head of the Judiciary, were also present at the event.

 

General Abbas Niloofroshan, a military advisor of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was assassinated alongside Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary General of Hezbollah, in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburbs on September 27. The IRGC’s public relations office announced on October 11 that his body had been discovered.

His body, which arrived in Baghdad from Beirut on Monday, October 14, was transported to Karbala and Najaf for a funeral procession before being returned to Iran for burial.

 

The presence of General Qaani, Commander of the Quds Force, during the reception of General Niloofroshan’s body attracted media attention.

In recent days, Israeli, American, and some regional media outlets had falsely reported that General Qaani had been killed, wounded, or even captured and interrogated in Beirut.

 

During the funeral, the attendees chanted “Haider, Haider” upon seeing General Qaani.

Participants in the ceremony carried flags of the Islamic Republic, Hezbollah, and Palestine, and held placards with slogans such as “We will stand till the end” and pictures of the Supreme Leader of Iran, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and General Niloofroshan.

 

The crowd welcomed General Niloofroshan’s body with flowers, with some people offering their rings to be blessed by the martyr’s body.

The event was widely covered by both domestic and international media outlets.

 

Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, told reporters on the sidelines of the ceremony, “We will stand till the end.”
