WANA (July 29) – Several officials and special envoys from African, South American, and Asian countries have arrived in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of the ninth president of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

 

The inauguration ceremony for Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, the ninth president, will be held tomorrow, Tuesday (July 30), starting at 4 PM in the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament).

 

Yesterday, the endorsement ceremony of the president took place in the presence of the Supreme Leader, government and military officials, and several ambassadors and foreign guests at the Imam Khomeini Hussainiya.

 

The protocol department of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the form of a committee, are responsible for inviting presidents, speakers of parliaments, foreign ministers, and other officials from various countries. According to Alireza Sharifi, the Executive Vice President of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, the participation of over 80 foreign delegations and 600 domestic and foreign journalists has been confirmed for the president’s inauguration ceremony.

 

As per the tradition of various presidential elections and considering the legal significance of the inauguration ceremony, which symbolizes democracy and the peaceful transfer of power in the country, the ceremony will be held with both foreign and domestic guests. Accordingly, foreign delegations have been arriving in Tehran since last night through Imam Khomeini Airport.

 

Some of the foreign guests who have arrived so far for the inauguration of the ninth president of the Islamic Republic of Iran include the Minister of the Interior of Niger, the special envoy of Mongolia, the special envoy of Malta, the Prime Minister of Cuba, the Prime Minister of Myanmar, the special envoy of Ecuador, the special envoy of the Dominican Republic, the special envoy of Colombia, Gambia, the Minister of Tourism of Madagascar, the Foreign Minister of Sudan, the Deputy Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, and the Acting Foreign Minister of Libya.

 

Additional officials from various countries, including presidents, prime ministers, and foreign ministers invited to the inauguration ceremony of Dr. Pezeshkian, are expected to arrive in Tehran today and tomorrow.

 

According to Article 121 of the Constitution, the president’s inauguration or oath-taking ceremony must be held in an open session of the Parliament with the presence of the head of the judiciary and members of the Guardian Council.

 

During the inauguration ceremony, the president-elect will take an oath to employ all his abilities and qualifications to fulfill the responsibilities he has assumed and will sign the oath document.

 

As per the internal regulations of the Parliament, after the inauguration ceremony, the president must, within a maximum of two weeks, present the overall plan and the names of proposed ministers with relevant experience and expertise, along with their biographies, programs, backgrounds, scientific and executive positions, and other pertinent qualifications, to the Islamic Consultative Assembly.
