WANA (Aug 27) – Nahid Kiani, the Iranian taekwondo athlete who recently won the first silver medal for women at the Paris 2024 Olympics and has added to the achievements of Iranian women’s sports, will be awarded a gold medal bonus.

 

The National Olympic Committee of Iran announced that, due to this success, she will be awarded a special bonus. The National Olympic Committee announced it would award a gold medal bonus to Nahid Kiani.

 

In a recent executive board meeting, Secretary-General Manaf Hashemi reviewed Iran’s performance at the Olympics, noting that Iran achieved its second-best results historically, following the London Olympics.

 

Iran secured 12 medals, with notable performances in taekwondo and wrestling. Manaf Hashemi, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee, highlighted the unprecedented success of taekwondo and the overall positive impact of these results on Iranian sports.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Iranian taekwondo team, featuring four athletes, achieved remarkable success by securing four medals.

 

Arian Salimi won a gold medal, marking the first time in 16 years that an Iranian taekwondo athlete has reached this pinnacle, alongside Haadi Saei as a golden taekwondo representative. Following Salimi, Mehran Barkhordari and Nahid Kiani each earned silver medals in their respective categories.

 

The youngest member of the team, Mobina Nematzadeh, who was the first athlete to fight in the taekwondo team, clinched a bronze medal, paving the way for her teammates to get more medals.
