Haniyeh seeks to strengthen ties between Hamas and Iran
WANA (Mar 26) – Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political office of the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas, entered Tehran this afternoon, Tuesday, March 26th, and was welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian. The two officials then held a meeting.
This is Haniyeh’s second visit to Tehran since the start of Israel’s military aggression on the Gaza Strip.
It should be noted that Haniyeh’s visit to Tehran took place after the UN Security Council’s resolution regarding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Political observers speculate that Haniyeh’s prompt visit to Tehran, occurring merely a day following the UN Security Council’s resolution advocating for an immediate ceasefire, holds multifaceted significance.
Following the formal discussions between Iran’s foreign minister and Haniyeh, the two dignitaries conducted a press conference to elaborate on the matters that were addressed during their meeting.
In this press conference, Ismail Haniyeh talked about the constant support of Iran for Palestine and also the recent resolution against Israel and America.
Following the press conference, Haniyeh proceeded to meet with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei.
In their meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei commended the steadfastness of Palestinian resistance forces and the people of Gaza, reaffirming Iran’s unwavering support for Palestine.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to support Palestine and Gaza.” Said Ayatollah Khamenei in this meeting with Haniyeh, and he also emphasized that: “The propaganda actions of the Palestinian resistance have been ahead of the Zionist.”
Ismail Haniyeh showed his gratitude for Iran’s constant support and assured Iran’s leader and also Iran’s nation that: “despite all the brutality, crimes, and genocide that is going on in Gaza, the people of Gaza and the resistance forces are standing strong and will not allow the Zionist enemy to achieve their goals.”
The timing and substance of Ismail Haniyeh’s visit to Tehran carry profound geopolitical implications amidst escalating tensions in the Middle East.
