Historic Arrival of Iranian Naval Fleet in Malaysia’s Port
WANA (Feb 22) – The Iranian Navy’s fleet, including the Shahid Nader Mahdavi ocean-going vessel and the Dena destroyer, docked at Klang Port in Malaysia after 28 days of maritime navigation.
The Iranian naval vessels were officially received in Malaysia on Friday. This marks the first-ever visit of Iranian Navy ships to Malaysian shores. The Royal Malaysian Navy’s Human Resources Development Manager, Captain Arman Shahril Adlan, led a welcoming delegation, which included a musical performance to greet the two ships.
Iran’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Valiollah Mohammadi Nasrabadi, was also present at the official reception ceremony in Klang Port.
The Malaysian Navy issued a statement on social media, calling the Iranian fleet’s arrival a historic milestone, underscoring that it paves the way for enhanced bilateral ties between the Royal Malaysian Navy and the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy.
The fleet, which crossed the equator 15 days ago, traveled through Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, and the Bay of Bengal, eventually entering the Andaman Sea before arriving at the strategically significant Strait of Malacca, a crucial waterway in East Asia.
