WANA (May 12) – Iran’s Foreign Minister has warned that any move to activate the so-called snapback mechanism—the automatic reimposition of UN sanctions—could not only eliminate Europe’s role in the nuclear deal but also risk triggering irreversible tensions.

In a post on the social media platform X, Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated: “Iran has made its position clear and has issued an official warning to all parties to the JCPOA.”

Referring to the three European countries (E3), he added: “They must ask themselves how we reached this deadlock.”

Araghchi also mentioned recent consultations with Russia and China, and expressed Iran’s readiness to begin a new chapter in relations with Europe: “I have expressed my willingness to visit Paris, Berlin, and London. This initiative has already led to preliminary talks at the deputy foreign minister level—a fragile but promising start.”

He concluded with a warning: “The way we respond to this critical moment will shape the future of Iran-Europe relations far more deeply than many may imagine. Iran is ready to turn the page—let us hope the European side has the will to do the same.”
