Iran and Belarus Sign Defense Cooperation Agreement
WANA (Mar 12) – In a high-level meeting, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh and his Belarusian counterpart, General Viktor Khrenin, signed a defense cooperation agreement while discussing shared security concerns and strategies to strengthen bilateral relations.
The meeting, aimed at expanding military and defense collaboration between Tehran and Minsk, highlighted the importance of regional peace, stability, and defense diplomacy. Both sides explored ways to deepen their ties and enhance security collaboration.
General Nasirzadeh emphasized the significance of defense cooperation, particularly through international organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), in countering common threats and unilateralism. He described the agreement as a key step in reinforcing Tehran-Minsk defense and security interactions.
Meanwhile, General Khrenin stressed the necessity of continued defense cooperation to ensure sustainable security.
The signing of this agreement marks another step in strengthening Iran-Belarus strategic relations and reflects their commitment to expanding ties across various sectors, particularly in defense.
