Iran and China Reaffirm Strategic Ties in Beijing Meeting
WANA (Apr 24) – Iran’s Ambassador to China, Mohsen Bakhtiyari, has highlighted the deep-rooted and trust-based nature of Iran-China relations following a high-level diplomatic meeting between the two countries’ foreign ministers.
In a post on the social media platform X, Bakhtiyari said that during the meeting between Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to a relationship grounded in mutual trust and respect.
“Iran and China both advocate for the rule of law and multilateralism at the international level,” the ambassador noted. “They consider coercive policies a threat to friendly state relations and South-South cooperation.”
Araghchi arrived in China on Wednesday morning at the head of a diplomatic delegation. The visit aims to consult with senior Chinese officials and deliver a message from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Later that day, Araghchi met and held talks with Wang Yi, the Chinese Foreign Minister.
The visit underscores the growing strategic alignment between Tehran and Beijing amid shifting geopolitical dynamics and shared opposition to unilateralism in global affairs.
