WANA (Aug 28) – In a recent phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko discussed various bilateral and international issues.

 

During the conversation, she expressed serious concern over the deteriorating situation in the Middle East, stating that escalating tensions are detrimental to the region and the international community.

 

Kamikawa emphasized that all efforts should be directed towards avoiding further escalation. She urged Iran to exercise restraint and also called on Iran to use its influence over related groups, including Hezbollah and the Houthis, to encourage their restraint.

 

Kamikawa also congratulated Araghchi on his appointment as Iran’s Foreign Minister.

 

Both parties agreed on the importance of peace and stability in the Middle East and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining communication between Japan and Iran based on their longstanding and friendly relations.
