Iran and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Ties, Islamic Unity Necessity
WANA (Oct 03) – During his two-day visit to Qatar, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed satisfaction with the expanding relationship between Iran and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the need for enhanced cooperation. He stated, “We consider Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia, as our brothers and stress the importance of setting aside differences to foster unity.”
In a meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, Pezeshkian highlighted the significance of solidarity among Muslim nations, particularly in light of the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon due to Israeli aggression. He characterized recent military operations by Iran’s armed forces against Israeli targets as a legitimate response to continued violence, cautioning that increased division among Islamic nations only emboldens such actions.
Pezeshkian called for unity in confronting these challenges, warning that without a cohesive response, violence could spread to other regions. He also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s crucial role in advocating for an end to Israeli crimes through dialogue with Western powers.
In turn, Minister Faisal bin Farhan delivered greetings from the Saudi Crown Prince, reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s commitment to improving relations with Iran.
He expressed a desire to move past differences and work collaboratively on shared issues. Bin Farhan recognized the sensitive regional situation and expressed confidence in Pezeshkian’s leadership in fostering peace and stability.
