Iran Assists Ceasefire Efforts in Gaza and Lebanon
WANA (Nov 11) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, in a recent phone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri, confirmed Iran’s support for the ceasefire efforts in Gaza and Lebanon and pledged political and humanitarian support.
During the call, Ghalibaf emphasized Lebanon’s crucial role in the regional resistance and commended Berri’s leadership in facilitating ceasefire discussions and providing aid to those affected by the ongoing conflict. He explained that, following his recent visit to Lebanon, he addressed Lebanon’s situation at the 149th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU) in Geneva, urging the international community to recognize and support Lebanon’s needs.
Ghalibaf further stated that upon returning to Iran, he prioritized humanitarian aid for Lebanon, affirming that Iran’s government, parliament, and people all stand in solidarity with Lebanon. He also expressed hopes for Lebanon’s success, adding that Iran will continue supporting the ceasefire process, as agreed upon since the era of the late Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah.
Speaker Nabih Berri expressed his appreciation for Iran’s support, acknowledging Ghalibaf’s dedication to Lebanon’s cause during his visit to Lebanon and at the Geneva summit. Berri noted the critical challenges Lebanon currently faces, with over 1.2 million Lebanese displaced and Israeli forces attempting to obliterate villages in southern Lebanon. He likened the situation to Israel’s actions in Gaza, affirming that this aggression would not deter Lebanon’s resistance.
Berri concluded by describing the severe toll of continuous airstrikes, which have devastated numerous families. Despite the displacement of 1.2 million people, he expressed confidence in Lebanon’s ultimate victory, drawing strength from their faith and resilience.
