WANA (Feb 02) – Iran’s Foreign Minister reaffirmed the deep historical, cultural, religious, and familial ties between Iran and Azerbaijan, expressing hope for further strengthening bilateral relations based on mutual respect and trust.

 

Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, met with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, on Sunday to discuss bilateral cooperation.

 

During the meeting, Hajiyev conveyed Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s strong commitment to expanding comprehensive ties with Iran. He highlighted recent high-level visits and the convening of the joint economic commission, emphasizing the vast potential for cooperation.

 

“There are significant opportunities for enhancing our relations, and we hope to see further growth in bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the current period,” he stated.

 

Araghchi reiterated Iran’s commitment to good neighborly relations and the country’s strategic focus on strengthening ties with Azerbaijan.

 

He underlined Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s dedication to deepening relations with Baku, expressing optimism that bilateral ties would continue to expand based on trust and mutual respect.

 

Touching on developments in the Caucasus, Araghchi emphasized the region’s impact on stability, security, and economic growth.

 

He reaffirmed Iran’s principled stance in supporting regional countries’ efforts to resolve issues through dialogue, utilizing local capacities while avoiding external interference. He also expressed Iran’s readiness to continue facilitating diplomatic efforts in this regard.
