WANA (July 25) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs today welcomed the statement by the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen regarding the agreement to resume flights from Sana’a Airport and resolve financial and banking issues throughout Yemen.

 

Hans Grundberg, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen, issued a statement on the agreement to resume flights from Sana’a Airport and address financial and banking issues across the country. This statement was met with a response today (Thursday, July 25) from the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Kanaani.

 

The Sana’a government and Saudi Arabia recently reached agreements. In this regard, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, the spokesperson for the Yemeni National Salvation Government’s negotiating delegation, announced the four-point provisions of this agreement.

 

Nasser Kanaani, welcoming the agreements, stated: “The Islamic Republic of Iran considers any agreement that reduces economic pressures and lifts the air, sea, and land blockade on Yemen to be in the interest of the Yemeni people and conducive to stability and security in the country.”

 

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also referred to Iran’s principled policy of resolving regional crises through dialogue, expressing hope that a sustainable peace agreement in Yemen will be signed as soon as possible.
