WANA (Sep 29) – Iran’s representative to the United Nations, in a letter to the UN Secretary-General and the current President of the Security Council, strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s atrocities in Beirut and called for an emergency session to be convened.

Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, submitted a formal letter on Saturday to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Samuel Žbogar, the current President of the UN Security Council, calling for an emergency session to address Israeli aggressions.

In the letter, Iravani strongly condemned what he described as Israel’s “cowardly and aggressive actions” in Lebanon, urging the council to take a firm stance. He labeled the Israeli strikes in Beirut as “an overt act of terrorism” and a “serious threat to both regional and global peace.”

The letter also highlighted Iran’s concern over potential attacks on its diplomatic missions, recalling previous assaults by Israel, including a notable attack on Iran’s diplomatic facility in Damascus.

Iran’s UN mission issued a stern warning, emphasizing that any future attacks violating the sanctity of diplomatic premises and personnel would be met with a decisive response.

The statement underlined that Iran would not hesitate to take necessary actions to safeguard its national and security interests, in line with international law.
