WANA (Nov 27) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei strongly condemned the accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran in the recent statement issued by G7 foreign ministers during their meeting in Rome, describing them as unfounded and unacceptable.

 

Baghaei emphasized that the statement reflects the G7’s illegal, unjust, unilateral, and discriminatory policies, which, he said, have caused irreparable harm to international peace and security. He pointed to the group’s unreserved support for Israel’s actions in Gaza and Lebanon as a stark example of their irresponsible approach.

 

“The influential members of the G7 have undermined the rule of law in international relations through their selective and double standards on global issues,” Baghaei stated.

 

Highlighting the global demand for justice, fairness, and adherence to international law, Baghaei asserted that the G7 neither represents the international community nor holds the moral authority to lecture others, especially given its double standards on gross human rights violations and humanitarian abuses in Palestine and Lebanon.

 

Baghaei also dismissed the repeated allegations in the G7 statement regarding Iran’s alleged arms transfers to Russia, regional destabilization, and human rights conditions as baseless.

 

He reiterated Iran’s legitimate right to respond to any foreign aggression, underscoring, “The Islamic Republic of Iran, under the inherent right of self-defense enshrined in the UN Charter and international law, reserves the right to respond to the Zionist regime’s violations of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

 

The spokesperson criticized the G7’s irresponsible policies, accusing the group of reversing the roles of aggressor and victim by ignoring Israel’s crimes and targeting legitimate resistance groups fighting for self-determination against occupation and apartheid.

 

Concluding his remarks, Baghaei reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to ensuring regional stability and security, emphasizing, “The Islamic Republic of Iran will spare no effort in fulfilling its responsibilities toward peace and stability in the region.”
