WANA (Aug 27) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani condemned the brutal terrorist attack that occurred last Saturday in Barsalogho, Burkina Faso.

The assault, claimed by an al-Qaeda-affiliated group, resulted in over 200 deaths and 140 injuries among military personnel and civilians. The terrorists targeted both civilians and soldiers, with several soldiers reported missing.

Kanaani extended his condolences and solidarity to the government and people of Burkina Faso, particularly the families of the victims, and wished a swift recovery to the wounded.

In response to the increasing threat, Burkina Faso has severed ties with Western allies, including France, and is now seeking support from Russia to counter the militant threats.
