Iran Condemns U.S. Treatment of Iranian Migrants
WANA (Feb 15) – Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denounced the inappropriate and humiliating treatment of migrants, including some Iranian nationals, by the U.S. government as unjustifiable and contrary to human rights principles.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized the importance of adhering to international norms regarding the treatment of migrants and condemned the harsh and inhumane handling of Iranian nationals as unacceptable.
He stressed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in line with its legal duties, will spare no effort to protect the rights of Iranian citizens.
Accordingly, necessary instructions have been issued to the Office for the Protection of Iran’s Interests in Washington and other Iranian diplomatic and consular missions in South America to provide all possible assistance to compatriots expelled from the United States.
Baghaei reiterated that Iran is the homeland of all Iranians, and compatriots are free to return to or travel within their country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stands ready to facilitate this process and address any related challenges.
