WANA (Jan 01) – Iran has strongly condemned recent airstrikes by the United States and the United Kingdom on various locations in Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, describing them as blatant violations of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Mohammad Alibak, Assistant to the Foreign Minister and Director-General for the Persian Gulf at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, issued a statement today, denouncing the attacks as an assault on Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He further described the strikes as a move to support ongoing crimes by Israel in Gaza.

Alibak criticized the repeated military aggressions by the US and UK, stating that they serve to destabilize the region and undermine peace efforts in Yemen. He attributed the root cause of the region’s conflicts to the continuation of Israel’s genocidal policies in Gaza, warning of the negative repercussions for both regional and international security.

The Iranian diplomat also accused the US-led coalition of using provocative actions to derail ceasefire talks and prolong Yemen’s crisis. He held the US and UK directly accountable for the dangerous and unpredictable consequences of their actions in the region.

Yemeni media reported on Tuesday evening that US and UK forces jointly targeted Yemen’s Ministry of Defense complex (Al-Ardi Complex) and a military-industrial facility known as the “May 22 Complex” in the Al-Thawra district of Sana’a.

Meanwhile, a senior member of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement, Hazem Al-Asad, commented on the attacks, stating, “The airstrikes mostly targeted unoccupied areas with no active operations. We are capable of inflicting significant damage on Israel if its aggression against Gaza continues.”

Iran reiterated its call for de-escalation and emphasized the need for international efforts to restore peace and stability in Yemen and the broader West Asia region.
