Iran Criticizes European Statement on Regional Tensions
WANA (August 13) – On Tuesday, August 13th, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani sharply criticized a joint statement by France, Germany, and the UK concerning regional tensions.
Kanaani accused the West of ignoring Israel’s ongoing war crimes and genocide against Palestinians, emboldening Israeli officials to commit further atrocities.
The European statement called for de-escalation in the region and urged Iran and its allies to avoid actions that could heighten tensions. Kanaani condemned this as illogical and contrary to international law, accusing the West of indirectly supporting Israel’s actions.
Kanaani emphasized that if Western countries truly seek regional stability, they should oppose Israel’s actions in Gaza and cease their support. He affirmed Iran’s commitment to defending its sovereignty and criticized the UN Security Council’s inaction, holding the West accountable for the crisis in Gaza and beyond.
This statement follows the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, with Iran vowing a decisive response to the violation of its sovereignty.
