WANA (May 06) – An Iranian knowledge-based company has successfully manufactured non-compliant (NC) coronary balloon catheters, reducing the need for imports and cutting foreign currency spending by 50%.

Addressing the High Demand for Balloons in Iran

Each year, Iran imports about 450,000 balloon catheters for angioplasty procedures, including 30,000 NC-type balloons. The locally produced version aims to partially meet this demand and strengthen the domestic medical device industry.

Advanced Features for Precision Treatment

NC balloon catheters are designed to resist deformation under high pressure, enabling doctors to open blocked arteries precisely. They are especially effective in cases requiring high-pressure dilation or for post-stent expansion.

Steps Toward Balloon Localization

Over the past year, the company has used imported raw materials to train production staff and conduct safety, performance, and animal testing in hospital environments.

Iran’s Strategic Goals

With a focus on producing high-quality, innovative medical tools, the company aims not only to fulfill domestic needs but also to explore export opportunities. This product is now a priority product in Iran’s effort to localize key medical technologies.
