Iran, Egypt Discuss Regional Tensions and Gaza Ceasefire
WANA (Apr 10) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel Aty held a telephone conversation on Wednesday night to discuss ongoing developments in the region.
During the call, Araghchi stressed the urgent need for a collective response from regional countries to halt what he described as the crimes committed by the Israeli regime. He emphasized that an immediate ceasefire in Gaza is essential, calling it the key to resolving other crises across the region.
Both sides expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions triggered by the continued Israeli military operations and occupation in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, as well as ongoing attacks on Yemen. They underlined the necessity of intensifying diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation and prevent the outbreak of a wider regional crisis.
The two ministers also discussed the ongoing indirect talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States in Muscat as part of the broader regional dialogue.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, also held a telephone conversation with Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, on Wednesday night to consult and exchange views on regional and international developments.
During the call, the Bahraini Foreign Minister, referring to the recent telephone conversation between the President of our country and the King of Bahrain, expressed hope that consultations and interactions between the two countries on issues of mutual interest would continue.
Araghchi also emphasized the importance of ongoing consultations among regional countries to strengthen regional peace and stability, and expressed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s readiness to cooperate in this regard.
