Iran Hosts High-Level ECO Summit: Delegations Begin to Arrive
WANA (Dec 01) – The head of the Foreign Ministry’s office in northeastern Iran, Ahmad Masoumi-Far, announced the arrival of foreign delegations in Mashhad ahead of the 28th meeting of foreign ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
On Sunday, Ahmad Masoumi-Far confirmed that two expert delegations from Turkey and Azerbaijan landed at Mashhad International Airport earlier in the day.
He added that the foreign ministers of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are also scheduled to arrive at Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport later this evening.
Additional foreign ministers and delegations are expected to arrive in Mashhad on Monday, marking the final preparations for the high-level meeting. The 28th ECO Foreign Ministers Meeting will take place on December 3-4, with 20 foreign delegations participating.
Established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey, the ECO is a regional intergovernmental organization aimed at fostering economic and cultural cooperation among member states.
In 1992, its membership expanded to include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, bringing the total to 10 member countries.
