WANA (Aug 29) – In a recent phone call, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre engaged in discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, focusing on bilateral relations and regional matters.

During the conversation, President Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s interest in expanding ties with Norway and expressed hope that such interactions would contribute to global peace and security.

President Pezeshkian highlighted Iran’s role in maintaining regional security and criticized the United States for its breach of the nuclear agreement (JCPOA) and the failure of European countries to honor their commitments.

He reiterated that Iran’s policy is based on peace and friendship but warned that continued pressure and sanctions could lead to a shift in the country’s approach.

Prime Minister Støre described the relations between Iran and Norway as friendly and historic, expressing his desire for further progress for the Iranian people.

He also voiced concern over rising tensions in the region, particularly the Israeli attacks on Gaza. Støre noted that Norway, along with Ireland and Spain, was among the first European nations to recognize the Palestinian right to establish an independent state.
