WANA (Aug 31) – The University of Tehran inaugurated Iran’s first specialized Chinese library with notable attendees at its Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature. The ceremony, attended by university officials and academics, marked a significant milestone in Chinese studies in Iran.

 

Hamed Vafaie, head of the Confucius Institute at the university, introduced the library’s collection of 4,000 original Chinese works spanning language education, literature, history, philosophy, geography, and politics. Vafaie highlighted the library’s role in filling the gap in primary Chinese sources in Iran and advancing research.

 

Farideh Alavi, head of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature, lauded the Confucius Institute for establishing the library, calling it a major asset that enhances the direct study of the Chinese language and culture. Abdoljabbar Eskandari, Director of International Cooperation at the university, praised the library as a valuable resource for scholars.

 

Jiang Hongwei, the educational attaché at the Chinese Embassy in Iran, commended the University of Tehran’s leadership in Chinese studies and noted the international achievements of its Chinese language students.
