WANA (July 21) – Referring to Iran’s 70th rank in the field of artificial intelligence in the world, the head of the Strategic Technologies Development Center, Shaghayegh Haqjou-Javanmard, said, “We are still a long way from the 10th rank in the field of science that guides the leadership of artificial intelligence.”

In a recent press conference, Javanmard emphasized integrating AI into academic curricula. The conference also covered faculty-centered system development, curriculum review, support for outstanding talents, and organizational aspects of higher education institutions.

Javanmard highlighted that Iran currently ranks around 70th globally in AI, indicating a significant gap in reaching the top 10. She stressed that AI impacts all aspects of daily life and has the potential to transform living. Notably, the Supreme Leader has set a target for Iran to be among the top 10 countries in this field.

She pointed out that technological waves can drastically alter the business landscape, and a lack of preparedness can lead to vulnerability and disruption. Specialized professions that are not ready to confront AI advancements will be at risk.

The Head of the Center for Development of Strategic Technologies under the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology underscored recent initiatives, including establishing the Technology Development Headquarters and drafting the National AI Strategy.

The first clause of this strategy emphasizes the need to develop and train skilled human resources. The Ministry of Science is also implementing two AI-related courses in university curricula as a significant and strategic action.
