WANA (Sep 07) – Iran’s Minister of Communications, following the ESCAP summit, wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account: “We are ready to cooperate with the United Nations in the field of artificial intelligence applications.”

 

Armida Alisjahbana, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the ESCAP summit, wrote on X: “I am pleased to have met with Iran’s Minister of Communications, Seyyed Sattar Hashemi, to discuss cooperation in the field of information technology and Digital4Dev at the ESCAP summit.”

 

She further stated: “Using artificial intelligence for the development of agriculture, power, smart electricity, and transportation, along with early warning systems for disasters like forest fires, will be key areas.”

In response, Hashemi wrote to Armida Alisjahbana: “I am pleased to have participated in the ESCAP conference alongside ministers from Asia and the Pacific.”

 

He added: “I am engaging with esteemed counterparts and United Nations officials.”

 

Hashemi emphasized: “I look forward to advancing discussions and strengthening cooperation on key issues, and we are ready to share experiences and resources for regional collaboration.”
