WANA (Dec 05) – In a telephone conversation, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty discussed regional developments, focusing on the situation in Syria. Araghchi warned about the threat of the potential spread of terrorist groups across the region.

 

Araghchi briefed his counterpart on the outcomes of his recent meetings with Syrian and Turkish officials during his visits to Damascus and Ankara. He reiterated Iran’s steadfast policy of supporting the Syrian government, army, and people in their fight against terrorist groups.

 

The Iranian diplomat warned of the resurgence of terrorist groups in Syria and their potential spread across the region, describing it as a serious threat to regional peace, stability, and security. He emphasized the necessity of sustained diplomatic efforts and dialogue among key regional players to counter this danger.

 

For his part, Abdel-Aty highlighted Egypt’s policy of supporting Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and legitimate institutions. He also noted his recent discussions with foreign ministers from other countries, aimed at addressing the Syrian crisis.

 

The two ministers agreed to maintain regular contact and continue consultations on regional issues.
