WANA (Mar 22) – In a letter to the United Nations Security Council, Iran’s Permanent Representative, Amir Saeed Iravani, responded to accusations made by the U.S. representative during a Security Council meeting on Friday.

In his letter, Iravani firmly rejected the unfounded allegations made against the Islamic Republic of Iran by representatives of the United States and the Israeli regime at the public meeting of the Security Council on March 21, 2025. This meeting, under the agenda item “The Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question” (Meeting 9883), was convened to discuss regional issues.

Iravani highlighted the false attribution of destabilizing activities and support for terrorism to Iran by the U.S. and Israel, stating that these accusations are nothing but a calculated attempt to divert international public opinion from the genocidal war, war crimes, and widespread atrocities committed by Israel against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Furthermore, these accusations seek to obscure the undeniable complicity of the United States in these crimes and its unwavering support for Israel’s destructive and destabilizing actions throughout the region. Iravani also dismissed similar baseless claims made by the U.S. representative at a prior public meeting of the Security Council on March 18, 2025 (Meeting 9881), under the same agenda.

Iravani continued, emphasizing that the direct role of the United States in facilitating Israeli crimes is undeniable and documented. America’s continuous political, military, and financial support for the Israeli regime has emboldened it to commit heinous crimes with complete impunity.

He stressed that the baseless accusations against Iran are simply a desperate attempt to deflect the Security Council from fulfilling its responsibilities, conceal the truth, protect Israel from accountability, and perpetuate its immunity from its crimes.

The Iranian representative further stated that these groundless accusations once again highlight the hostile policy of the U.S. government toward the Islamic Republic of Iran. He affirmed that the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, under Washington’s direct guidance, has repeatedly ignored the realities on the ground and continues to make baseless accusations against Iran.

The U.S. mission, whenever possible, has turned the Security Council into a tool to advance Washington’s political agenda, presenting a misleading image of Iran as a threat to international peace and security.

In response to the U.S. representative’s unfounded claims about Iran’s nuclear program raised in the meeting, Iravani made it clear that Iran’s nuclear activities are entirely peaceful and conducted within the framework of Iran’s commitments under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). He pointed out that the United States remains the only country to have used nuclear weapons and committed war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Iravani also highlighted the blatant double standards and hypocrisy of the U.S., demonstrated by its continued silence on Israel’s undeclared nuclear arsenal and its failure to address the Israeli regime’s repeated threats to use weapons of mass destruction against the Palestinian people in Gaza. This approach clearly reveals that non-proliferation is being used as a political tool by the United States, not as a universal and impartial principle.
