WANA (Aug 20) — On Monday night, in response to allegations from U.S. intelligence and cybersecurity agencies regarding Tehran’s involvement in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Iran’s UN mission stated that such claims are baseless and lack credibility. The mission reiterated that Iran has no intention or motive to interfere in U.S. elections.

The mission further challenged the U.S. government, stating, “If the U.S. is sincere in these claims, they should provide us with their evidence so we can respond accordingly.”

Recently, the FBI and several other U.S. intelligence agencies issued a joint statement accusing Iran of cyber infiltration into the campaign of Republican candidate Donald Trump and attempting to hack the campaign of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

Previously, in response to a report from Microsoft on Iran’s alleged cyberattacks to influence U.S. elections, Iran’s UN mission emphasized that Iran has been a victim of various cyberattacks targeting its infrastructure, public services, and industries.

The mission stated that Iran’s cyber capabilities are defensive and proportional to the threats it faces, and reiterated that Iran has no plans or intentions for cyber aggression, emphasizing that U.S. elections are a domestic issue in which Iran does not interfere.
