WANA (Apr 12) – As part of ongoing indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met with his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, in Muscat on Saturday morning to discuss Tehran’s key positions and proposals intended for transmission to the American side.

During the meeting, Araghchi praised the longstanding and robust bilateral relations between Iran and Oman, expressing appreciation for Muscat’s responsible role in regional developments.

He described Oman’s hosting of the Iran-U.S. indirect talks as a reflection of that constructive approach and thanked the Omani foreign minister for his country’s efforts in facilitating the dialogue.

Foreign Minister Al-Busaidi, for his part, welcomed the Iranian delegation and described Iran-Oman relations as “exceptional.” He thanked the Islamic Republic for choosing Muscat as the venue for such critical discussions.

Al-Busaidi also briefed Araghchi on the logistical and procedural arrangements prepared for the indirect talks set to take place later today, in which Oman will play a mediating role.

In line with preparations, Iran formally delivered its negotiation framework and strategic positions to the Omani side to be relayed to the American delegation.

The indirect Iran-U.S. talks are scheduled for today (Saturday) with Oman’s foreign minister present. The Iranian delegation, led by Araghchi, arrived in Muscat earlier this morning.

Other members of the delegation include Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei, Deputy Foreign Ministers Majid Takht-Ravanchi and Kazem Gharibabadi.

The American side’s talks are headed by Steve Witkoff, the Trump administration’s envoy for West Asia.
