Iran to Host First D-8 Tourism Investment Forum in 2026
WANA (May 06) – The 4th Meeting of Tourism Ministers of the Developing-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8) is currently underway in Cairo, with the participation of senior tourism officials from member states. Iran’s Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts was the first speaker at the event, presenting eight proposals to enhance tourism cooperation among D-8 countries.
Among Iran’s key proposals were the establishment of a regular tourism exhibition among D-8 member states and the facilitation of visa waivers between these countries — both of which received significant attention.
Additionally, during the summit, it was officially decided that the first D-8 Tourism Investment Forum will be hosted by the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2026.
In the closing statement of the summit, D-8 Secretary-General Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam welcomed Iran’s initiative and emphasized the need for meetings aimed at promoting tourism investment across member states. Accordingly, Iran was selected to host the inaugural forum in this area.
This summit marks an important step toward strengthening regional cooperation and making shared use of tourism potential among the developing Islamic countries.
