Iran, Turkmenistan Share Common Stance on Palestine
WANA (Feb 12) – Iran and Turkmenistan hold identical positions in support of the Palestinian people, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Wednesday during a joint press conference with his Turkmen counterpart in Tehran.
Araghchi emphasized the deep-rooted cultural, historical, and civilizational ties between the two nations, highlighting Iran as one of the first countries to recognize Turkmenistan’s independence and its status as a neutral state.
The Iranian foreign minister commended Turkmenistan for successfully passing two key resolutions at the United Nations—one on international trust and peace, and the other concerning Central Asia as a zone of peace, trust, and cooperation.
“As per the adopted resolution, 2025 has been designated as the Year of International Trust and Peace. We extend our congratulations to the President of Turkmenistan and the national leader of its people on this achievement,” Araghchi said, adding that Iranian official Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian will attend a related conference later this year.
During his visit to Tehran, the Turkmen foreign minister engaged in intensive discussions with Iranian officials, including a high-profile meeting with the Iranian president. The visit also featured political consultations between the two foreign ministers, accompanied by Turkmenistan’s ministers of transportation, energy, and oil.
According to Araghchi, the talks covered regional developments, including the situation in Palestine and Gaza. “Iran and Turkmenistan stand united in opposing the forced displacement of Palestinians, which violates international law, humanitarian principles, and human rights,” he stated.
The two sides also held “productive consultations” on Afghanistan and agreed to enhance coordination on regional and international affairs alongside their bilateral relations.
“We are committed to expanding Iran-Turkmenistan ties in the best interests of both nations,” Araghchi concluded.
“The forced displacement of Palestinians is against humanity.#Iran and #Turkmenistan share the same stance in supporting the Palestinian people.
