WANA (Mar 15) – Iran has introduced the prototype of its first national artificial intelligence (AI) platform (version 3.0) in a ceremony attended by the Vice President for Science, Technology, and university scholars.

Developed domestically, the platform serves as a key infrastructure for AI advancement in Iran. Launched in October 2024, it aims to support data analysis and AI applications while reducing reliance on foreign technology. The Vice Presidency has backed the project for Science and Technology and leading academic experts.

The project’s progress was previously presented to Iran’s Supreme Leader on October 24, 2024, during the Pioneers of Progress exhibition. At the time, Vice President Hossein Afshin announced that the prototype would be unveiled by March 2025.

Hossein Asadi, head of the High-Performance Computing Center and representative of Sharif University of Technology, emphasized that the AI platform was developed using an open-source framework, optimized with indigenous electronic circuits and modules.

“We have ensured that this platform is entirely independent, with no reliance on foreign APIs or applications,” Asadi stated. “Even if the country’s internet were to be completely disconnected, the platform’s services would continue without disruption.”

He further highlighted the platform’s high scalability, cost-efficiency, and strong security measures as key advantages. The system is expected to be further enhanced and completed by September 2025.
