Iran Welcomes Ceasefire in Lebanon, Reaffirms Support for Lebanese Resistance
WANA (Nov 27) – Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has welcomed the cessation of hostilities by the Israeli regime against Lebanon, reaffirming Tehran’s unwavering support for the Lebanese government, people, and resistance.
Baghaei emphasized Iran’s consistent stance on the urgent need to halt aggression against Gaza and Lebanon.
He highlighted Iran’s extensive diplomatic efforts over the past 14 months to achieve this goal, stating that the Israeli regime’s acts of war and crimes, backed by the United States and certain European nations, have led to catastrophic outcomes: the death of 60,000 innocent people, injury to 120,000 others, displacement of over 3.5 million people, and widespread destruction of critical infrastructure in Gaza and Lebanon.
He also referenced rulings from the International Court of Justice calling for the prevention of genocide, as well as arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court against Israeli leaders for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Baghaei stressed that global public opinion, which has been demanding an end to the war and genocide over the past 14 months, now expects the prosecution and punishment of the Israeli regime’s perpetrators.
Baghaei further urged the international community to take responsibility for safeguarding peace and stability in West Asia by exerting effective pressure on Israel to end its aggression against Gaza.
