WANA (Feb 18) – Iran’s Foreign Minister reaffirmed Tehran’s readiness to continue negotiations with the three European countries while emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not tolerate threats and pressure, asserting that the maximum pressure policy is bound to fail.

 

Wolfgang Amadeus Bruelhart, Switzerland’s Special Representative for the Middle East and North Africa, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat.

 

During the meeting, Araghchi highlighted the long-standing and positive relations between Iran and Switzerland on both bilateral and multilateral levels. He expressed appreciation for Switzerland’s efforts as the protecting power of U.S. interests and acknowledged its constructive role in promoting peace and stability in the region.

 

Welcoming the upcoming round of political consultations between the two countries in Tehran, Araghchi stressed the importance of continuing dialogue and cooperation in this regard.

 

The Iranian Foreign Minister also referred to the three rounds of negotiations between Iran and the three European countries, reiterating Iran’s readiness to continue the talks. He firmly stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not tolerate threats and pressure, and the maximum pressure policy is destined to fail.

 

Switzerland’s Special Representative, in turn, provided an overview of his country’s efforts in promoting global peace and stability. He emphasized Iran’s significant and influential role in the region.

 

Bruelhart also underscored the importance of maintaining bilateral discussions with Iran on various regional and international issues. He expressed Switzerland’s willingness and readiness to continue bilateral dialogues and consultations, including during the upcoming round of political consultations in Tehran.

 

Both sides exchanged views on several regional and international issues of mutual interest.
