WANA (Sep 03) – Kuwait’s Coast Guard has reported that an Iranian boat has sunk in its territorial waters. According to reports, the vessel, carrying Iranian and Indian crew members, sank in the maritime area between Kubbar and Umm al-Maradim islands.

The Coast Guard stated that, so far, the bodies of three out of six missing crew members have been recovered, with ongoing efforts to locate the remaining three. The search and rescue operations are being overseen directly by Brigadier General Mubarak Al-Sabah, head of the Coast Guard.

A security source informed the newspaper “Al-Jarida” that the Iranian boat’s captain contacted the Ministry of Interior’s operations room two days ago, reporting that the vessel was sinking due to severe weather conditions and strong winds.

Following this report, Coast Guard patrols were immediately dispatched to the scene. After several hours of searching, the Iranian boat was found capsized in the sea, but no crew members were found nearby.

In response to the incident, orders were issued to expand the search area. Coast Guard divers were able to recover three of the six missing bodies, which have been sent to the General Department of Forensic Medicine for identification. The search for the remaining three missing crew members continues.
